Avalon Rose Design is a graphics and website design studio that has become well know for vintage-inspired, altered art, and specialty designs. By combining and layering vintage images, Avalon Rose Design has created many truly unique and one-of-a-kind designs for many different types of businesses. Vintage buttons, textiles, papers, and photographs are used extensively in our designs while an "outside-the-box" viewpoint lends to richly detailed, unique designs that are sincerely original and not found elsewhere.
A little bit about me personally, my name is Cathy, and I work out of my home office. I have two children, Isabel (5) and Luke (4) who keep me on my toes! My working hours are very odd, because I need to schedule everything around my children. Early morning (I mean very early!), and naptime is when I get most things done.

I've always been artistic whether it was drawing, painting, sewing, or creating collages. My website design is just another extension of that. I don't follow any traditional art/color rules when designing. I feel that the end result should be an expression of the designer, and shouldn't have to conform to anyone else's standards of art. Every design I put out is a little piece of me.
I have an enormous collection of just about anything vintage that I use in many of my designs. Papers, photos, postcards, buttons, keys, jewelry, books, you name it. I am very careful about copyright infringement, however, and don't use any vintage image unless it has transferred into the public domain. I also use my own photographs, and I do create many of my graphics completely digitally with Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. (I use both programs.)
There are so many things that inspire my work....the quilt on my daughter's bed, the art of Alphonse Mucha, a sunset, the color combination on one of my funky pairs of socks, old photos of Paris and London, the list goes on.... Inspiration can be found around any corner....you just have to remember to look for it!
